Access a View's 'Created By', 'Last Modified By', 'Last Modified On'

I wondered if anyone has found a way to access a View's 'Created By', 'Created On', 'Last Modified By', or 'Last Modified On' attributes? Does DOORS even capture this information? I could not see any evidence of these View attributes in the documentation.

Thanks!

Whilst these system attributes are present for Modules, Module Objects and Links, they do not exist as system attributes for Views. I scoured a list of undocumented DXL library functions that Mathias Mamsch provided a while back but I can't see anything obvious where perhaps DOORS is storing this info under the hood somewhere. So, no go I think.

If you understand how the concept of Private and Public views work then you could possibly run a test to read the access permissions applied to each View and work out who the creator\owner is, but if it's not a Public or Private view then there is no way of telling who owns it.

If this is an attempt to try and do some housekeeping on modules that are swamped with Views and want to know who owns what before proposing to delete them, then the only practice that can help here is to get users to prefix the names of the views that they create with a two\three letter abbreviation of their name - has the added advantage that their views will appear together due to the default alphabetical sort of the drop down View list.

Paul, you confirmed my suspicion and added a useful best practice on top. Many thanks!

Additional to this prefixing idea - if any of your modules have a standard set of views that are common across modules, you may also want to prefix these with a number so that they always sit at the top and all user created views sit below - keeps it neat - use a two digit number prefix with leading zeroes e.g 01, 02, leave some gaps in the numbering e.g. perhaps reserve 20 to 29 for common Verification type views and so on

I've attached a screen grab example which give a better idea of what I mean.

Got Policy that Project approved views start with Upper case letters, user custom views start with their lower case login. The Upper case ones sort first. That's the policy, but not the reality.
